It’s the same old story. Spring arrives and we all assume that this change in date on the calendar, is going to be met with instant sunshine and health. But if your situation is anything like mine, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Last week we had torrential rain and those daycare lurgies reared their ugly head and managed to find all 3 of my little ones. Poor darlings.

Our go-to products over winter consisted of my Swisse Women’s Ultivite multi-vitamins, Ultiboost Immune Forte and the Biostime Infant Probiotics with Vitamin D for the kids.

You might have heard conversations around gut bacteria and the importance of looking after the gut microflora – but what does that really mean? How do you know when or if this is important for your kids?

After recently teaming up with Biostime, we learnt whole lot more on this topic and thought we would share it with you below.

So what do baby probiotics do?

The first 3 years of your little one’s life, is a critical time for their developing gut and immune system. There are a number of factors that can positively or negatively influence how the gut developed and helps to create their unique ‘gut signature’.

This is being developed at a time when they are also bombarded with all sorts of bugs – both good and bad! With 70% of their immune system found in the gut, it is working every minute of the day to protect them. We need to ensure that we support their immune system from the inside out in order to ensure that they have a healthy and robust immune system.

The gut houses communities of bacteria called ‘gut microbiome’ and we need these to be in good balance. This is where Probiotics comes in! They help to restore good intestinal micro flora, or in other words – the good bacteria.

Now it’s over to you!

At the end of the day, we all want what’s best for our little ones and it’s no different when it comes to their probiotics!

I personally believe that when something is in the ‘too hard basket’ it falls off the priority list fairly quickly. When it comes to your little one’s health, it has to be a priority. Thankfully Biostime have kept busy families in mind and created a very simple serve per sachet! This means there’s no need to refrigerate it and you can simply add it to your little one’s sippy cup, food or favourite smoothie like we did here.

In our busy lives as parents, it can be easy to forget about all the things we need to do for our kids.
